Trees that have been inoculated with the morel fungus will be sold in numbers of 10, 100 or 500. The greater the number of trees ordered the larger the discounted price break. There is a minimum order of 10 trees. Before purchasing be ready to receive the trees and follow the detailed planting instructions that will come with them. You must keep the trees cool and damp. Tree orders will be delivered in the fall for planting in November and December. The success of your morel plantation depends upon your following the detailed instructions for planting and care. Once the trees are in the ground you must continue to protect the delicate fungus from heat, by watering, mulching, and shading the seedlings. Once the trees are older they will be able to better withstand heat. Elm trees are very productive but are a little more challenging to germinate and inoculate. Morel production is in direct proportion to the age of the tree. If you are a serious morel farmer it is recommended that you plant trees every year to keep your plantation productive year after year.
